Stunned locals survey the damage after a deadly tornado ripped through the town of Mayflower, Arkansas.

Residents of the Little Rock suburb of Mayflower were trying to stay upbeat early Monday after a deadly tornado touched down reducing homes and businesses to matchsticks.“We’re hanging in there,” one official who was not authorized to speak to the media told NBC News.

At least 13 people were killed as a tornado left behind a miles-long path of destruction in Arkansas on Sunday. Another person was killed in Oklahoma.Major damage was reported in the Little Rock suburb of Mayflower where roofs were ripped off homes.

The search is over for a prison escapee with ties to North Texas.Kendrick Rishard Davis, 34, escaped from the Kyle Correctional Center just after 2 p.m. Saturday. He was captured sometime around 8 p.m.
