Bene't Holmes is a 25-year-old single mother who works at Walmart in Chicago and struggles to survive on low wages. On Saturday, June 21, union members, along with their local AFL-CIO/United Way Community Services liaisons, will be volunteering alongside hundreds of thousands of people around the world who will be participating in the seventh annual United Way Day of Action. Many national and local unions have partnerships with United Way, and the organization's signature volunteer event will consist of hundreds of action events in countries across the globe. The events will help expand the impact of United Way's work and strengthen existing relationships with unions and community volunteers and activists.
