The latest entry in the "I Am AFGE'" series takes a look at Christopher Lee Castle, a former Marine, who took a job with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2008 so he could give back to his fellow veterans. Castle is a loan specialist outside of Denver and he frequently works with veterans and their family members, particularly when they are going through foreclosures and tough economic times. When not helping veterans, he's vice president of AFGE Local 1557.

Last weekend, the Union Sportsmen's Alliance Work Boots on the Ground project brought together more than 100 volunteers to help restore the wildlife and recreational coastal wetlands at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach, Calif. The crews included skilled union trade workers, adults and youth from the community. They worked on a one-mile stretch of the trail, pulling invasive weeds, repairing wood and metal fencing and removing graffiti. Bolsa Chica contains more than 500 acres of wildlife habitat and is vital for ducks and migratory birds.
